Frequently Asked Questions

What happens at my first appointment?

Remedy BottlesYour first appointment will be around 90 minutes long (60 minutes for children), allowing me plenty of time to get to know you, and for you to discuss your symptoms, medical history, and any other concerns you have. Toys and drawing materials are available at children’s appointments. Once I have reviewed your case notes and chosen the appropriate remedy I then send it to you by first class post with full dosage instructions. You should receive it within a few days of your appointment. Urgent prescriptions are given out immediately, or can be picked up from the clinic next day.

What are your treatment fees?

Adult first appointment £55
Adult follow up £45
Child (under 16) first appointment £40
Child (under 16) follow up £30
Infant (under 1) all appointments £28

All treatment fees include remedies prescribed. Further repeat prescriptions without an appointment are charged at £10. Additional topical treatments (creams, tinctures, ointments) are charged at £5 - £10 depending on item cost.

Do I need further appointments?

Everyone responds in their own way to homeopathic treatment, and the number of appointments needed depends on how long you have been unwell, your general vitality at the outset, and the complexity of your case (including other medications). I recommend we meet for between 1 and 3 follow ups initially, at around 4 weekly intervals. Once you are on the road to recovery I suggest you get in touch as and when you need to. Homeopathic remedies can stimulate a healing response that lasts for weeks or even months in some cases, and so the interval between appointments is typically longer than for other types of treatment.

What if I need to contact you between appointments?

I am always happy to make myself available by telephone or email if you have any concerns about your treatment. Please call between 9am and 6pm on weekdays, and leave a message, or send an email at any time. I will respond within 24 hours.

Should I tell my GP I am coming to see you?

If you are currently receiving treatment from your GP, it is a good idea to let them know you are commencing a course of homeopathic treatment, especially as it may impact on any regular medication you are taking as your overall health improves. If you prefer, I can send a form letter to the surgery instead. It is always in the best interest of patients if those involved in their care communicate with each other. It is important that you do not reduce or discontinue any prescribed medicines without consulting your doctor first.

I take regular prescribed medication which I cannot stop taking. Does this mean homeopathy would not be able to help me?

Homeopathy may still be able to help you. It can work well alongside conventional medicine, even when you are taking long term prescription drugs. If your condition is improving under homeopathic treatment and you would like to reduce your prescribed medication (where this is possible), we can work together to achieve your goal gradually over a period of time. Let your GP know of your intention before we begin treatment.

Will I need to keep taking the homeopathic remedies?

Homeopaths understand that each person is sensitive to even the tiniest amount of the right medicine for them (in the same way that a tiny rise in the pollen count will bring on very unpleasant hay fever symptoms in those who are most sensitive). This means that your initial prescription will usually be just one or two tablets of your individual remedy, and this can potentially produce a healing response that lasts for some time. Once healing is underway, your body can continue the work on its own, and only an occasional remedy may be needed.

I had some successful homeopathic treatment last year, but now I have developed a new health problem – what should I do?

Because of the holistic approach of homeopathic medicine, if the treatment has worked well for you in the past, I can often find a remedy which will address the new situation quickly. If I already have your previous case history, all subsequent appointments are charged at the lower follow up rate, even if it is more than a year since I last saw you.
